The Unsyncables nominated for Outstanding Fringe Production 2016

The Unsyncables

Mary forms her own Synchronized Swimming team, and sets out to make a big splash at a local competition. Trouble arises when she runs into her old squad. H2-Uh-Oh!

A love-letter to the 90s, this "amiable underdog" comedy will have you gasping for breath at every turn!

- Vue Weekly

BM2_8057.jpg

The Unsyncables is precisely that. The story of three young synchronized swimmers who will rise to the top - unless of course they've forgotten their water wings. Fine enough, but the clunky Juniper, Mary, and Olga can't even manage to sync up a high five. Thankfully, their comedic timing is bang on. Adorable and instantly endearing, the girls from the Unsyncables will leave you gasping for air like you just swam 50 laps. They miss every lift (almost) but nail each punchline. For fans of corny 90's pop music, awkward pre-teen love, and anyone with a firm belief that the power of friendship can conquer any obstacle.

"Fully realized!"

Rivercity the Musical

A musical-spoof that pays homage to the beloved Archie Comics, brimming with colorful wigs, delightful gags and an all-original score! Egads! Premiered at the Edmonton International Fringe Festival in 2017.

Rivercity the Musical Nominated for Best Fringe New Work 2018

Bountiful

Follows the lives of four sister-wives from a Fundamentalist Polygamist Settlement and delves into themes of religion, feminism and the patriarchy. Inspired by true events. Premiered at the Edmonton International Fringe Festival 2018.

- Global

Bountiful does an intriguing job at breaking the fourth wall, bringing the audience uncomfortably close to the lives of four women who share community, chores, songs -and a husband. Yet somehow, from the opening scenes when they welcome us into their lives with harmonious singing, the characters create a palpable feeling of separation between spectator and performer. Us vs.them. This dynamic carries through the play, raising the question - are we really all that different? Inspired by true events and polygamous religions, "Bountiful" will have you examining your beliefs, delving into themes of faith and courage, feminism and patriarchy. The minimal stage, the clever use of props and wardrobe are appropriate for the raw subject matter, the dashes of humour, and the unsettling reality of the sister wives.

Jesus Teaches Us Things

Rebecca Merkley as our lord and saviour substitute teacher is brilliant and hilarious, a firecracker of energy that will have you tapping your toes and clapping your hands for redemption. Adam Keefe does an incredible job as the straight man to Merkley’s unruly messiah, constantly trying to keep the class “on curriculum” but unable to overcome Merkley’s overwhelming charisma.
